What fonts work with stainless steel letter cutting?

Stainless Steel letters are laser cut, which means virtually any font can be used — including scripts, serifs, and decorative typefaces. The minimum stroke width is approximately 1.5mm depending on the material thickness. We have a curated library of hundreds of fonts, or you can supply your own.

How thick can stainless steel letters be?

We offer stainless steel in 1.5mm, 2mm, 3mm, 5mm thicknesses. Thicker material creates a more substantial look and stronger shadow when mounted with stand-offs. For even greater depth, consider our fabricated metal letters (10mm-100mm thick).

Will stainless steel letters rust or corrode?

Accepted Answer

Stainless steel is highly corrosion-resistant and will not rust under normal conditions. It's the most durable choice for outdoor signage, with an expected lifespan of 20+ years.

How are metal letters mounted?

Accepted Answer

We offer several mounting options: stud-mount pins (threaded studs welded to the rear for stand-off mounting), VHB adhesive tape (industrial double-sided tape pre-applied), or threaded rod stand-offs (for a raised shadow effect at 15-25mm from the wall). What is the production time?

Accepted Answer

Standard production is 5-7 business days to dispatch after artwork approval. Delivery is a flat $40 Australia-wide, or collect free from our Botany NSW workshop.

Can I see a proof before production?

Accepted Answer

Yes, we send a digital proof for your approval before cutting. The proof shows exact letter shapes, sizes, and spacing. No cutting begins until you approve the proof. Changes at proof stage are free.

What is the minimum letter height for laser-cut metal?

Accepted Answer

The minimum letter height for stainless steel letters is 50mm. This ensures clean cut edges and sufficient structural rigidity. For very small lettering below this threshold, consider etched metal nameplates or UV-printed ACM panels instead.

Can I UV print onto metal letters?

Accepted Answer

Yes — UV direct printing is available on aluminium, stainless steel, brass, and copper letters. This allows full-colour logos, gradients, or photographic imagery to be printed directly onto the polished or brushed metal face. Select the UV Print option in the calculator above.
