Where flat acrylic cut-out letters work best
Cast acrylic cut-out letters are the go-to dimensional signage choice for reception walls, office lobbies, retail shopfronts, boardrooms, cafés, clinics, gyms, co-working spaces, showrooms, and studio entrances. The clean laser-polished edge, crisp face, and subtle depth make them a premium upgrade over flat printed decals — without the cost of fabricated metal or illuminated 3D letters. Indoors, acrylic holds colour and gloss for years; outdoors, cast-grade material stays dimensionally stable under sun and heat.
Why cast acrylic (not extruded)
We use cell-cast acrylic from SAS Signage and Mulford Plastics — the same premium sheet used across Australian signage. Cast acrylic laser-cuts to a perfectly clear, flame-polished edge with no tool marks, no yellowing, and no scorching. Extruded acrylic is cheaper but produces milky edges on the laser and warps under heat — we don’t use it for letters. Every letter you order is cut in-house on our 300W CO₂ laser, which handles material up to 40mm thick in a single pass.

Thickness, depth, and shadow
Thicker material = more presence. 3mm sits almost flush with the wall and reads as a premium flat graphic — ideal when the letters are the design and you don’t want a strong shadow. 5mm and 10mm are the most-specified thicknesses for reception walls, giving a definite dimensional feel with a clean shadow line. 20mm and 30mm read as bold architectural signage with deep returns and dramatic shadow — best for wide viewing angles and larger letter heights. 40mm is our max flat-cut depth and is popular for hero brand walls and logo centrepieces.
Colours, mirror, and printed faces
Choose from clear, opal white, black, red, blue, yellow (translucent), green, pink, orange, plus mirror gold, mirror silver, mirror rose gold — all drawn from the SAS UNI range, the Australian standard for signage-grade acrylic. Mirror finishes are supplied in 3mm only (manufacturer limit). For unlimited brand colours, gradients, photographic artwork, or matching a Pantone, choose UV direct print on the letter face — our Flora UV flatbed prints directly to the acrylic with weather-resistant inks, no vinyl overlay.
Mounting options
Every letter ships with your chosen mount: stud pins (threaded rods for a clean 15–25mm stand-off with drop-shadow), VHB adhesive tape pre-applied for flat surfaces (paint, glass, tile, MDF, laminate), or threaded rod stand-offs for a deeper architectural shadow. For fast, accurate installation you can add an optional full-size 1:1 hard-paper placement template — printed at actual size with your exact letters and spacing, so the installer tapes it to the wall, marks every fixing point, then peels it away. No measuring errors, no crooked lines. Priced by your overall lettering width.
Font freedom — any typeface, any script
Because the cutting is laser-guided rather than CNC router, we can cut virtually any font — including fine serifs, brush scripts, handwritten signatures, thin geometric display fonts, and logotype artwork supplied as a vector. Minimum stroke thickness is 3mm for reliable handling; below that we’ll flag it and suggest a scale-up. Upload your own typeface (.otf/.ttf), paste a Google Font name, or send us the vector art — we’ll match it exactly.
Indoor and outdoor suitability
Cast acrylic is rated for both. Indoor lifespan: 10+ years with no fade. Outdoor lifespan: 5–7 years in direct Australian sun before any noticeable colour shift — longer in shaded or east-facing installations. For permanent outdoor brand marks (shopfront fascias, building facades), ask about our fabricated 3D illuminated letters or brushed stainless — they outlast flat acrylic by decades.
What you receive
Your order is production-ready: each letter individually laser-cut, flame-polished, protective-film still attached for transit, packed flat with foam sheet interleaves, plus your mounting fixings (and your 1:1 placement template, if added). Installation instructions are included; most customers self-install, but we also offer a Sydney metro install service from $360 ex GST for a two-hour visit with two installers. Request it on the cart page.
