Product details

Identify the confirmed emergency-stop control

Install the sign only beside the emergency-stop control identified by the site's plant documentation and responsible competent person. Keep the red-and-white pictogram and complete EMERGENCY STOP legend visible before the operator reaches the control, without implying that the printed panel is itself the device.

Keep the button visible and accessible

Place the sign above or beside the control without covering the button, bezel, labels, guards, displays, instructions or adjacent controls. Recheck the association after plant, guarding, panels or layouts change so the sign cannot be mistaken as identifying another machine or control.

Select the material and portrait size

Polypropylene is the default rigid option. Vinyl suits a prepared smooth surface, Corflute suits temporary placement, and Colorbond steel provides a stronger mechanically fixed face. Choose from 225 × 300 mm, 300 × 450 mm, 450 × 600 mm or 600 × 900 mm using the actual approach, lighting, mounting surface and surrounding visual clutter.

Retain every plant risk control

The sign can help people locate the identified control, but it cannot stop plant or validate the emergency-stop function. Retain the safe machinery design, guarding, isolation, lockout, inspection, testing, maintenance, procedures, supervision and training selected through the plant risk assessment.

Check the sign format before ordering

This is a printed identification sign only. It does not supply, operate or validate an emergency-stop control, establish accessibility, perform isolation or lockout, inspect or test plant, or certify the installation. Confirm the site-specific control, marking, position and risk controls with the responsible competent people and applicable regulator.

  • Standards Australia – AS 1319:1994 Safety signs for the occupational environmentAS 1319 specifies requirements for the design and use of safety signs intended for the occupational environment. Referencing the standard does not certify this product or determine that its format, size or placement is correct for a particular plant control. • Safe Work Australia – Managing the risks of plant in the workplaceThe model Code provides practical guidance on controlling plant risks. Its emergency-stop guidance addresses the control's visibility, marking and accessibility and treats emergency stops as a backup measure rather than the only risk control. A printed sign does not perform those control functions. Read source (opens in a new tab)Check with the relevant regulator whether the model Code has legal effect in the jurisdiction and confirm plant-specific duties and technical requirements.

Before ordering

  • Confirm that the exact Type A hand-and-pushbutton artwork is the site-approved identification message.
  • Identify the specific emergency-stop control and every normal approach before choosing the sign position.
  • Check the real viewing distance, lighting and nearby visual clutter when selecting the portrait size and compatible finish.
  • Match the material and fixing method to the surface without covering or obstructing the control, labels, guards, displays or instructions.
  • Have the responsible competent people confirm plant design, accessibility, isolation, testing, maintenance, procedures and training separately.

This is general product information, not legal or engineering advice. A safety sign is one part of a workplace control system; confirm the site and jurisdictional requirements before ordering.
