Product details
Identify the installed hydrant
Place the sign at, above or immediately beside the fire hydrant it identifies. Confirm that the equipment is actually present at that point and keep the complete white border and FIRE HYDRANT legend visible on the normal approach.
Choose the material and readable size
Polypropylene is the default rigid material for routine indoor and general site use. Vinyl suits a prepared smooth surface, Corflute suits temporary placement, and Colorbond steel provides a stronger mechanically fixed face. Choose 300 × 225 mm for close-range identification, 450 × 300 mm for greater prominence, or 600 × 450 mm for larger or visually busy approaches.
Use separate directional signs where needed
The approved artwork has no arrow. Use it to identify the hydrant location rather than to imply a route. Where the equipment cannot be seen from a driveway, doorway, corridor junction or other decision point, add directional signs only after confirming the actual path and arrow direction.
The sign is not the hydrant system
A location sign does not supply, install, commission, inspect, maintain or certify the hydrant or its system and does not replace access management, emergency planning, staff instruction or fire-safety servicing. Keep the sign aligned with the installed equipment and the site's current fire-safety documentation.
Check the sign format before ordering
This printed sign identifies a fire hydrant location. It does not include, install, commission, inspect, maintain or certify the equipment or system and does not replace emergency planning, access, staff instruction or fire-safety servicing. Confirm the site-specific equipment, placement and applicable requirements before ordering.
- Standards Australia – AS 2419.1:2021 Fire hydrant installations, Part 1: System design, installation and commissioning — AS 2419.1 covers the design, installation, commissioning and testing of fire hydrant systems. A printed location sign does not establish that the system or installation satisfies those requirements. - Safe Work Australia – Emergency plans and procedures — Workplace emergency plans can include maps showing fire-protection equipment and must address response procedures, information, training and testing. A location sign is one communication aid within those broader arrangements. Before ordering
- Confirm that a fire hydrant is installed at the location the sign will identify.
- Check that the exact text-only FIRE HYDRANT artwork matches the required site message.
- Choose the material and landscape size for the mounting surface, exposure and normal approach.
- Add separately verified directional signs if the equipment cannot be seen from route decision points.
- Confirm access, installation, inspection, maintenance and site fire-safety requirements separately from the sign order.
This is general product information, not legal or engineering advice. A safety sign is one part of a workplace control system; confirm the site and jurisdictional requirements before ordering.

Frequently asked questions
What is printed on this Fire Hydrant sign?
The approved landscape artwork has a red field, a white border and the exact two-line legend FIRE HYDRANT. It contains no pictogram and no directional arrow.
Does the sign include a hydrant or fire-safety service?
No. This product is the printed location sign only. It does not include a hydrant, booster, valves, pipework, installation, inspection, maintenance, certification or fire-safety service.
Where should the Fire Hydrant sign be installed?
Install it at, above or immediately beside the hydrant it identifies, where the complete face can be seen on the normal approach. Confirm the position with the building's fire-safety documentation and the competent person responsible for the equipment and site.
Can this sign direct people to a hydrant around a corner?
Not by itself. The approved artwork has no arrow, so it identifies the equipment location rather than a route. Use separately verified directional signs at genuine decision points when the hydrant cannot be seen from the approach.
Which material and size should I choose?
Polypropylene is the default rigid option for routine indoor and general site use. Vinyl suits a clean, smooth surface, Corflute suits temporary placement, and Colorbond steel provides a stronger mechanically fixed face. Choose 300 × 225 mm for close-range identification, 450 × 300 mm for a more prominent approach, or 600 × 450 mm for larger or visually busy areas.
