Natural Corten Signs, Cut In-House
Corten weathering steel develops a protective rust-coloured patina outdoors. We cut solid 2mm, 3mm, 5mm and 6mm plate for address plaques, garden signs, entrance markers, letters, logos and architectural panels.
The natural weathered surface is the finish; this online product does not add a printed face or laminate. Supply vector paths for cut lettering and custom outlines. Standard rectangles and pre-drilled mounting holes can also be selected, from 100mm x 100mm up to a 2400mm x 1200mm plate.
Material: Solid Corten weathering-steel plate
Thickness: 2mm, 3mm, 5mm, or 6mm
Finish: Natural weathered rust patina; pre-weathering can be requested
Printing: Not included in this natural Corten product
Run-off: Allow for rust-coloured water while the patina develops
Production: The selected calculator turnaround starts after artwork approval
Where Corten Signage Works Best
Solid corten panels are the premium choice for high-end shopfront facades, corporate lobbies, building identification, wayfinding systems, and any application where the weight and feel of the sign matters. The solid metal construction gives a satisfying heft and rigidity that composite panels cannot match.

Corten (also called COR-TEN or weathering steel) is designed to develop a rust-coloured patina when exposed to suitable weather cycles. The colour and texture vary naturally. Rust run-off can still occur, so the sign and its drainage should be kept clear of surfaces that may stain.
Service life depends on plate thickness, exposure, drainage, local climate and the mounting detail. Coastal, persistently wet and high-salt locations need project-specific review because the weathering behaviour can differ. Contact us with the site conditions if durability is critical.
2mm and 3mm suit many smaller supported plaques and decorative panels. Thicker 5mm and 6mm plate adds weight and rigidity for larger work. Free-standing, structural or wind-exposed signs require a separate mounting and engineering review; plate thickness alone does not make an installation structurally suitable.
Yes, rust-coloured run-off can occur, especially while the patina develops and whenever the surface is repeatedly wet. Plan drainage away from porous or light-coloured surfaces such as concrete, sandstone, limestone and timber. Pre-weathering may be available by separate request, but it does not remove the need to manage run-off.
The instant calculator accepts a maximum single plate of 2400mm x 1200mm. Larger or multi-panel signs need a separate fabrication, joining, access and installation review, so request a project quote rather than ordering them through this calculator.
Yes, subject to material thickness, bridge widths, internal cut-outs and overall manufacturability. Supply PDF, AI, EPS or SVG artwork with every cut shape drawn as a closed vector path. We review fine details and unsupported islands before proof approval and will quote separately if the file requires substantial rebuilding.
Illumination is not included in this instant calculator. Back-lit letters or illuminated panels require a separate electrical, fabrication and installation specification. Request a custom illuminated-sign quote with the artwork, location and intended viewing conditions.
The instant calculator can add pre-drilled panel holes only. Standoffs, cleats, posts, ground supports, anchors and site installation must be confirmed separately for the substrate, load and environment. Include photographs and construction details when requesting that quote.
Pre-weathering may be available by separate request. The achievable colour and timing vary because the patina is a natural surface process. Confirm availability and the current lead time before placing a time-critical order.
Installation is quoted separately and depends on location, access, panel weight, fixing substrate and any engineering or lifting requirements. Send site photographs, dimensions and the proposed mounting location so the team can confirm whether installation can be offered.
Eligible repeat business customers can apply for a trade account. Approval, pricing and terms are confirmed through the trade-account process; they are not automatically applied by this retail calculator.
