Trade Accounts for Sign Makers, Resellers & Construction Firms

Trade Accounts for Sign Makers, Resellers & Construction Firms

Not everyone ordering signage is the end user. Sign makers, design agencies, building firms, property managers, strata companies, franchise chains and even other print shops need wholesale access to signage production — with trade pricing, blind-shipping, and faster lead times than the retail queue.

Platinum Signs runs a trade programme for exactly these customers. This guide explains how it works, what pricing you can expect, and what the commitments are on both sides. If you're running a signage-adjacent business and currently sending work to a patchwork of local fabricators, this should give you a clearer picture of what's possible.

Trade accounts are free to open, but they're gated — we need some basic trade verification before activating. Retail customers get retail pricing; trade customers get trade pricing. No overlap.

Who qualifies

Our trade programme is aimed at businesses who resell, reconfigure or install signage as part of a larger service. Typical profiles:

  • Other signage fabricators — buying our ACM, corflute or wide-format print to fill capacity gaps
  • Design agencies — sub-contracting fabrication of signage they've designed for their clients
  • Builders and construction firms — wayfinding, hoardings, site boards, handover pack signage
  • Property managers and strata — rolling signage programmes across multiple buildings
  • Franchise operators — signage rollouts to new locations under a consistent brand standard
  • Event and exhibition fit-out companies — stand graphics, lightboxes, modular signage
  • Real estate agencies — bulk window decals, listing boards, open-home signage

What trade pricing actually means

Trade pricing on Platinum Signs runs typically 25–40% below the retail prices shown on our product calculators. The exact discount depends on product category and volume bracket. It's not a flat percentage; high-margin handwork (fabricated letters, custom neon) has lower trade discounts than commodity products (corflute, standard ACM).

Trade pricing is per product line, not per order. A trade customer ordering a single ACM job gets the trade rate on that job, not the retail rate. The real benefits kick in above $1,000 per order through volume brackets.

Commodity product wholesale

For high-volume commodity signage — corflute, standard ACM, vinyl banners — we publish fixed trade rate cards that resellers can build into their own quoting systems. That means you can quote your client quickly, confident that the production cost won't move underneath you.

White-label and blind shipping

We plain-label and blind-ship all trade orders on request. That means your client receives a Platinum Signs product in unbranded packaging, with your company's paperwork and a drop-ship address you specify. We never contact your clients directly, never invoice them, and never cross-market.

For longer-term partnerships, we can produce in fully branded packaging (your agency's logo on the carton, your invoice template on the packing slip). That's a specific conversation with account management rather than a default, but we do it regularly for larger resellers.

Wall graphics and architectural work

For builders and construction firms, the single biggest trade-volume category is wall graphics, wayfinding and architectural signage in new fit-outs. A typical commercial fit-out at around 1,000m² generates $8,000–$20,000 of signage: reception panels, wayfinding, tactile signage, door graphics, occasional feature walls.

Custom and premium products on trade

Custom neon and fabricated 3D signs are also available on trade terms — though the discount is smaller (typically 15–20% rather than 30%) because the product is labour-intensive rather than commodity.

Lead times

Trade orders sit in the same production queue as retail — we don't run separate lines — but they're prioritised at queue entry. In practice that means a typical trade job goes into production 24–48 hours earlier than the equivalent retail job. For bulk orders (e.g. 500 real-estate boards, 50-unit fit-out signage package), we schedule specifically with the trade account manager.

Payment terms

New trade accounts run on up-front payment for the first three orders. After a clean payment history, accounts are eligible for 14-day terms up to an agreed credit limit (typically $5,000–$25,000 depending on profile). Larger limits are available for established builders and construction firms with trade references.

How to open an account

Open a trade account via the /trade-accounts page on this site, or directly through the admin team. We ask for ABN, two trade references, and a brief summary of your expected monthly volume and product mix. Activation typically takes 2–3 business days.

Next steps

If you're a sign maker, agency, builder or reseller currently working with retail pricing and you think trade makes sense, submit an application on the trade-accounts page. If you want to understand the specific pricing for your profile before applying, call us directly — we can walk through example quotes on your typical product mix before you commit.
