Fire Equipment Signs — Buyer's Guide (AS 1319 + AS 1851)
Fire equipment signs are the red AS 1319 sub-category — white pictogram on a red background, marking the location of fire-fighting equipment. Distinct from fire warning signs (which use the Danger format) and exit signs (which use the green AS 2293 running-man pictogram).
Australian workplaces must sign fire equipment in line with AS 1319 (colour/pictogram) and AS 1851 (inspection/service). Missing or incorrectly positioned fire-equipment signs are one of the top five findings at annual fire-safety audits.

Mounting height
AS 2444 recommends extinguisher signs mounted 2.0–2.1m above finished floor, directly above the extinguisher. Hose reels and hydrants typically have the sign at 2.0–2.5m depending on equipment height. Signs in high-bay warehouses may need to be larger (450×600mm or 600×900mm) with suspended mounting for visibility from forklift operating height.
