Product details
Where a no-arrow EXIT sign works best
Use this design at the actual doorway or final exit point when the required direction is self-evident. It can support everyday identification in workplaces, warehouses, offices, shops, amenities and controlled back-of-house areas. At corridors, intersections, stairs or other route changes, use a directional sign that gives occupants the missing left, right, up or down instruction.
Printed identification versus a required exit-sign system
This product is a static printed sign. It does not include emergency power, internal illumination or certified photoluminescent performance. NCC 2022 E4D8 sets separate requirements for exit signs that are required as part of a building's emergency egress system. Do not describe or install this printed product as a substitute for that system unless the responsible building professional has confirmed the proposed application.
Selecting the size and material
The three landscape sizes are 300 × 225 mm, 450 × 300 mm and 600 × 450 mm. Select a larger face when the normal approach is longer or the visual environment is busy. Polypropylene is the default rigid material; self-adhesive vinyl is for smooth surfaces, Corflute is for temporary placement, and Colorbond steel is for a more durable mechanically fixed installation.
Placement and emergency planning
Position the sign for an unobstructed approach view and check its visibility with the door both open and closed. Avoid placing a no-arrow sign where occupants still need route guidance. Safe Work Australia notes that workplace emergency plans should identify emergency exits and assembly points; the sign should support that plan rather than conflict with it.
Check the sign format before ordering
This is a static printed EXIT identification sign. It is not an electrical exit luminaire and is not represented as an NCC-compliant photoluminescent exit sign. NCC 2022 E4D8 requires every required exit sign to comply with AS/NZS 2293.1, or with Specification 25 for a photoluminescent exit sign. Confirm the required system and installation with the responsible building professional.
- National Construction Code 2022 – Part E4, E4D8 — Every required exit sign must comply with AS/NZS 2293.1 or, for a photoluminescent exit sign, NCC Specification 25, and must be clearly visible while the building is occupied. Read source (opens in a new tab)Required building exit signs are a separate compliance system from this static printed identification product.
- Safe Work Australia – Emergency plans and procedures — Workplace emergency planning should identify emergency exits and assembly points and provide the information needed for an effective response. Read source (opens in a new tab)
Before ordering
- Confirm that a no-arrow EXIT legend is appropriate at the selected doorway or final exit point.
- Confirm whether the location instead requires an illuminated or approved photoluminescent exit-sign system.
- Choose the landscape size for the normal approach distance and surrounding visual clutter.
- Choose the material for the mounting surface, fixing method and expected exposure.
- Check that the installed sign will remain visible with the door open and closed.
This is general product information, not legal or engineering advice. A safety sign is one part of a workplace control system; confirm the site and jurisdictional requirements before ordering.

Frequently asked questions
What is this EXIT sign designed for?
This is a static green EXIT identification sign with no directional arrow. Use it to identify a doorway or exit point where the intended direction is already clear. It is not an illuminated exit luminaire and it is not sold as a photoluminescent exit sign.
Can this printed EXIT sign replace a required illuminated exit sign?
Not automatically. NCC 2022 E4D8 requires every required exit sign to comply with AS/NZS 2293.1, or with NCC Specification 25 when a photoluminescent exit sign is used. Confirm the building requirement with the responsible building practitioner, fire-safety professional or certifier before using a static printed sign in a required exit-sign location.
When should I choose an EXIT sign with an arrow instead?
Choose a directional exit sign when occupants need to turn or continue along a route before reaching the exit. This no-arrow design is best placed at the identified door or final point, not at an earlier junction where left, right, up or down guidance is needed.
Which material should I choose?
Polypropylene is the default rigid option. Corflute suits temporary placement, Colorbond steel suits a durable mechanically fixed sign, and self-adhesive vinyl suits a clean, smooth door, wall or panel. Select for the mounting surface, expected exposure and required service conditions.
How should the EXIT sign be positioned?
Place the sign where the complete legend can be seen on approach and is not obscured when the door is open. Do not use a no-arrow sign where the route is ambiguous. Required exit-sign systems also have visibility, operation and placement requirements that must be checked separately.
What volume discounts apply?
Automatic volume pricing is 5–9 signs: 8% off, 10–24 signs: 15% off, 25–49 signs: 24% off, 50–99 signs: 32% off, 100+ signs: 40% off. The configurator is the source of truth and updates the unit price as quantity changes.
