Product details
Apply it to a defined no-running rule
Use the face where the site has identified that people must walk through a particular route or area. Confirm the boundary, who uses the approach and what condition makes running unsuitable; do not place the same restriction across unrelated spaces without checking the actual movement and risk pattern.
Install it before the decision point
Mount the sign on the normal approach so the red barred pictogram and NO RUNNING legend can be read before a person enters the controlled area. Check door swings, columns, stored goods, glare and competing notices, and repeat the instruction at another approach when one face cannot cover every entry.
Keep prohibition and exit symbols distinct
This portrait face tells people not to run. It must not replace a green running-man exit sign, an evacuation direction, a wet-floor warning or a complete pool-rules notice. Keep emergency and directional information visible and unambiguous alongside any behaviour restriction.
Choose a surface and maintain the message
Use vinyl only on a clean, smooth and compatible surface; use a rigid face where the substrate or exposure needs mechanical fixing. Select the portrait size from the approach distance and available mounting area, keep the symbol upright, and replace the face if damage, dirt or fading makes the pictogram or words difficult to recognise.
Check the sign format before ordering
This No Running face communicates a site behaviour restriction. It is not an emergency-exit symbol, does not remove the underlying hazard and does not by itself demonstrate compliance with a WHS duty. Confirm the applicable sign format, placement and risk controls for the site.
- Standards Australia — AS 1319:1994 Safety signs for the occupational environment — Standards Australia lists AS 1319:1994 as the current Australian Standard covering the design and use of safety signs intended to regulate and control safety-related behaviour in occupational environments. Read source (opens in a new tab)The standard listing does not certify this manufactured face or determine that a No Running instruction is suitable for a particular workplace. Confirm the exact application and any purchaser specification.
- Safe Work Australia — Control the risks — Safe Work Australia places warning signs with training, supervision, work methods and procedures as administrative controls after higher-order risk controls have been considered. Read source (opens in a new tab)Administrative controls rely on human behaviour. A No Running sign should support, not replace, the physical and operational controls selected for the route or facility.
- Safe Work Australia — Australian and other Standards — Safe Work Australia explains that Standards are not laws in themselves and that conforming to a Standard does not automatically establish compliance with WHS laws; the surrounding risk controls still matter. Read source (opens in a new tab)Check the law, regulator guidance, relevant Standards and facility requirements that apply in the jurisdiction and setting. Before ordering
- Confirm the exact route or area where the no-running rule starts and ends.
- Check that the red barred running pictogram and NO RUNNING legend match the required instruction.
- Keep the prohibition face separate from emergency-exit, evacuation, wet-floor and pool-rules information.
- Choose the portrait size, material and fixing method for the approach distance and mounting surface.
- Confirm the supervision, housekeeping, route design and other controls that support the behaviour rule.
This is general product information, not legal or engineering advice. A safety sign is one part of a workplace control system; confirm the site and jurisdictional requirements before ordering.

Frequently asked questions
What is shown on this No Running sign?
The verified portrait artwork has a black running-person pictogram inside a red prohibition ring and diagonal bar, with the black words NO RUNNING below. It has a white field, black border and no pool-specific, school-specific or emergency-exit wording.
Where is a No Running sign commonly used?
Use it at the approach to a defined area where the site rule prohibits running, such as a corridor, stair landing, pool approach, warehouse pedestrian route or shared facility entry. Choose the location from the actual movement pattern and risk assessment, and position the face where people can read it before entering the controlled area.
Is this the same as an emergency-exit running-man sign?
No. This is a prohibition sign: the red ring and diagonal bar mean running is not permitted. A green emergency-exit running-man symbol directs people along an escape route. Do not substitute this No Running face for an exit, evacuation or directional sign.
Does installing the sign make a walkway or pool area safe?
No. A sign communicates a rule but does not remove slippery surfaces, blind corners, crowding, poor lighting or other hazards. Safe Work Australia treats warning signs as administrative controls that rely on behaviour. Use the sign with the supervision, housekeeping, barriers, route design and other controls identified for the site.
Which material, size and mounting option should I choose?
Polypropylene is the default rigid option. Self-adhesive vinyl suits a clean smooth surface, 5 mm Corflute suits temporary identification, and Colorbond steel provides a stronger mechanically fixed face. The portrait sizes are 225 × 300 mm, 300 × 450 mm and 450 × 600 mm. Check the approach distance and mounting surface; optional holes apply only to rigid materials.
What volume discounts apply?
