Show the instruction before the area begins

Place the notice where people approaching the designated area can see the runner and read both words. Entrances, corridor approaches and access gates may offer useful positions when they match the site’s no-running rule. Check the view from the direction people normally arrive.

Keep the message separate from an entry restriction

NO RUNNING addresses how people move through the area. It does not say NO ENTRY or PEDESTRIANS PROHIBITED. If access itself is restricted, use the additional message required for that location rather than expecting this sign to communicate it.

Compare the two portrait formats

Measure the clear area around doors, fixtures and other notices. The 300 × 450 mm panel is the smaller of the two; 400 × 600 mm needs more wall or backing space. Keep both the pictogram and the wording unobstructed, and check readability under the lighting people will encounter.

Choose the panel and support together

The rigid range uses 1.6 mm polypropylene, 0.6 mm Colorbond steel or 3 mm Corflute. Consider the supporting surface, panel exposure and fixing arrangement for the intended position. Contact the team if a particular hole pattern or mounting hardware is needed; those requirements are not shown in the standard artwork.

Maintain the route as well as the reminder

A no-running notice can communicate the expected behaviour, while clear walkways and well-maintained floors address the route itself. Check for objects hiding the sign and replace it when the symbol or words become difficult to read. Review its position if furniture, doors or pedestrian routes change.

Order matching signs for each approach

Count the entrances or approaches covered by the same instruction before ordering. Keep the message consistent where people move between adjoining areas, while retaining any separate access or emergency information. For replacements, save PS-PRO070 together with the panel size and material so the next order matches this face. If your site needs different wording, a particular fixing pattern or an essential arrival date, discuss those requirements with us before ordering.

Check the sign format before ordering

A no-running notice communicates the site rule. Maintain the route and address slippery surfaces, obstacles and lighting as part of the workplace arrangements.

  • Safe Work Australia — Slips, trips and fallsThe guidance identifies floor conditions, low obstacles and work procedures as factors in slips and trips. It recommends clear walkways, suitable lighting and housekeeping. Read source (opens in a new tab)General workplace guidance supporting route maintenance and housekeeping.
