Description
Prevent scalding injuries with this AS 1319 hot water warning sign, critical for boiler rooms, kitchens, laundries, and industrial plants. The yellow-and-black triangle meets Australian safety standards and alerts staff to thermal hazards before contact occurs. Corflute, polypropylene, Colorbond steel, and vinyl options all feature UV-stable inks that resist fading in humid or sunlit environments. Four sizes (225×300 mm through 600×900 mm) allow installation near pipes, tanks, and outlets at appropriate viewing distances. Platinum Signs includes mounting holes, reflective finishes, and lamination on request; trade discounts and nationwide delivery available.
Final sign type, wording, size, placement and material depend on the site risk, project specification and applicable jurisdiction. Confirm the requirement with the relevant WHS adviser or regulator.

Frequently asked
What temperature threshold requires a hot water sign?
AS 1319 does not specify a temperature limit; however, water above 50 °C can cause scalding injury. Install signs near any hot water source (pipes, tanks, outlets, steam) where accidental contact is possible.
Should the sign be at the tap or on the pipe?
Both approaches work. Mount at the source (tap, outlet, or tank) and along the pipe run if it's exposed. Ensure the sign is visible before a worker reaches the hazard.
Which material resists moisture and condensation best?
Colorbond steel and vinyl are most resistant to damp, steam, and condensation in boiler rooms and kitchens. Polypropylene is acceptable in less humid areas. Lamination adds moisture protection to any material.
Is this sign suitable for outdoor hot water systems?
Yes. Use Colorbond steel or vinyl for outdoor solar or gas hot water installations; both withstand UV, rain, and temperature swings. Reflective Class 2 is recommended for systems in shaded or low-light areas.
Can I order pre-assembled signs with mounting brackets?
Standard signs ship with pre-drilled holes. Brackets and fasteners are not included; source locally or request a quote for a fully assembled package if you're ordering 10+ units.
