Description
Use this PPE Must Be Worn Sign at an entry or approach where the workplace has already determined that specific personal protective equipment is required. The finished sign is intended to combine the approved mandatory PPE symbols with a clear site-entry instruction. The exact production artwork is still being prepared, so the placeholder shown on this page is not a PPE instruction and must be replaced and approved before manufacture. Polypropylene is preselected as the practical rigid option for routine workplace use. Self-adhesive vinyl suits a clean, smooth surface and is supplied in packs of three. 3 mm Corflute suits temporary site identification, while 0.6 mm Colorbond steel provides a stronger face for mechanical fixing. The two landscape sizes are 600 × 450 mm and 900 × 600 mm. Choose the size using the approach distance, mounting position, lighting and competing site information. Install the approved sign where workers, contractors and visitors can see the full instruction before entering the area in which the PPE is required. Check every normal access point, keep the symbols and wording unobstructed, and reassess the sign when the work, hazards, access or required PPE changes. A broad PPE sign should not be used where the pictured equipment differs from the site procedure. The sign communicates a workplace instruction; it does not select, supply, fit, maintain or inspect PPE. It also does not remove or isolate a hazard, train or supervise a worker, or replace reasonably practicable higher-order controls. Safe Work Australia says the business must select suitable PPE for the worker and task, provide information, training and instruction, guide correct use and put up signs about PPE. Confirm the final symbols, wording, location and supporting controls through the workplace risk process.
The placeholder is not a PPE instruction and cannot demonstrate compliance. Approve the exact mandatory symbols and wording for the assessed work, then confirm the finished sign's size, position, visibility and supporting controls before manufacture and installation.

Frequently asked
What does a PPE Must Be Worn sign communicate?
It tells workers, contractors and visitors that the personal protective equipment shown on the approved sign must be worn before entering or working in the identified area. The final symbols and legend are still being prepared, so the placeholder on this page is not the production artwork.
Where should the PPE sign be installed?
Place it at the normal entry or approach where people can read the complete instruction before reaching the area in which the PPE is required. Repeat the instruction at separate access points where one sign cannot be seen from every approach.
Does the sign decide which PPE is required?
No. The workplace risk assessment and responsible people must select suitable PPE for the hazard, task and wearer. Approve every pictogram and the exact legend before manufacture so the sign matches that decision.
Does a PPE sign replace other risk controls or training?
No. A sign supports the instruction but does not remove or isolate the hazard, provide PPE, confirm correct fit or compatibility, train a worker, supervise use or replace reasonably practicable higher-order controls.
Which material and size should I choose?
Polypropylene is the default rigid option. Self-adhesive vinyl is supplied in packs of three for a suitable smooth surface, 3 mm Corflute suits temporary site use, and Colorbond steel provides a stronger mechanically fixed face. Choose 600 × 450 mm or 900 × 600 mm using the actual approach, mounting surface, lighting and surrounding visual clutter.
What volume discounts apply?
Automatic volume pricing is 5–9 signs: 8% off, 10–24 signs: 15% off, 25–49 signs: 24% off, 50–99 signs: 32% off, 100+ signs: 40% off. The configurator is the source of truth and updates the unit price as quantity changes.
