Description
This sign warns occupants and visitors that opening a monitored door will trigger an alarm. Commonly fitted to fire-exit and emergency-egress doors equipped with sounder or break-glass devices. The notice prevents accidental activation while maintaining compliance with the National Construction Code and AS 1905 fire-door hardware standards. Doors remain freely operable for emergency egress; the sign simply alerts users to the alarm function. Supplied in colorbond, polypropylene, aluminium, or vinyl in 225×300 mm or 300×450 mm. Lamination extends outdoor lifespan. Platinum Signs delivers Australia-wide and offers bulk pricing for multi-building installations.
Final sign type, wording, size, placement and material depend on the site risk, project specification and applicable jurisdiction. Confirm the requirement with the relevant WHS adviser or regulator.

Frequently asked
Can this sign be used on a fire-exit door?
Yes. Fire doors can be fitted with alarmed egress hardware and must carry a warning notice. The door remains fully operable for emergency egress under NCC rules; this sign does not lock or restrict the exit.
Is this sign required by building standards?
The appropriate safety-sign category, wording, placement and supporting controls depend on the product purpose, site risk and applicable jurisdiction. Confirm the requirement with your WHS adviser or regulator; a sign alone does not discharge WHS duties.
What size works best for a standard doorway?
Available sizes are 225 x 300mm (Small), 300 x 450mm (Medium). Viewing-distance notes are a practical selection aid, not a substitute for checking the approach distance, lighting, mounting position, wording and site risk assessment.
Should I use lamination on a door sign?
Lamination is recommended for doors in high-traffic areas or exposed locations (e.g., external fire exits). It protects against scuffs, moisture, and UV fading.
How is the sign attached to the door?
Pre-drilled holes are available for screw mounting. Adhesive-backed vinyl is also an option for smooth door surfaces. Stainless-steel fasteners prevent rust and corrosion.
