Smoke Door Do Not Block Sign

Description

This AS 1319 fire safety sign prevents obstruction of smoke containment doors, which are critical to slowing fire spread and protecting evacuation routes. The red panel design ensures immediate recognition in emergency conditions. Compliance with fire safety codes makes this sign mandatory in most commercial buildings, hospitals, aged-care facilities, and multi-storey residential developments. Supplied in corflute, polypropylene, Colorbond, and vinyl in sizes from 225×300 mm to 600×900 mm. Reflective Class 1 and 2 finishes improve visibility in low-light scenarios. All materials are printed with fade-resistant inks and can include pre-drilled holes or lamination. Platinum Signs delivers nationwide with bulk discounts for property managers and facility operators overseeing multiple buildings.

Final sign type, wording, size, placement and material depend on the site risk, project specification and applicable jurisdiction. Confirm the requirement with the relevant WHS adviser or regulator.

    Frequently asked

Why is it important to keep smoke doors unblocked?

Smoke doors compartmentalise fire and smoke, slowing their spread and giving occupants more time to evacuate safely. Blocking them defeats this critical safety function and may breach building codes.

Is this sign legally required in my building?

Most Australian building codes and fire safety standards require signage on smoke containment doors. Check your building's fire safety plan or consult your local fire authority to confirm specific requirements.

What size should I use for a stairwell door?

Available sizes are 225 x 300,300mm. Viewing-distance notes are a practical selection aid, not a substitute for checking the approach distance, lighting, mounting position, wording and site risk assessment.

Should I choose reflective or standard finish?

The appropriate safety-sign category, wording, placement and supporting controls depend on the product purpose, site risk and applicable jurisdiction. Confirm the requirement with your WHS adviser or regulator; a sign alone does not discharge WHS duties.

Do you offer installation or just supply?

We supply signs with pre-drilled holes and fixings. Installation is typically straightforward and can be done by your maintenance team. For large multi-building orders, ask about our installation partner network.
