Dry Chemical Powder (ABE) Fire Extinguisher Sign

Description

Identify ABE dry chemical powder extinguishers with this AS 1319 and AS 1841 colour-coded sign. The red body with white band clearly marks multi-purpose extinguishers suitable for Class A, B, C, and E fires—the most widely deployed type in Australian workplaces. Available in corflute, polypropylene, Colorbond, and vinyl in sizes 225×300 mm to 600×900 mm. All signs use fade-resistant inks and support optional hole drilling, lamination, and Class 1 or 2 reflective finishes. Platinum Signs offers competitive bulk discounts for facilities teams and nationwide delivery.

Final sign type, wording, size, placement and material depend on the site risk, project specification and applicable jurisdiction. Confirm the requirement with the relevant WHS adviser or regulator.

    Frequently asked

What does ABE mean on the extinguisher sign?

ABE indicates the extinguisher is suitable for Class A (ordinary combustibles), Class B (flammable liquids), and Class E (electrical equipment) fires—making it versatile for most workplaces.

Why is the white band important on the sign?

The white band is part of AS 1841 colour coding for fire extinguishers and helps personnel instantly distinguish ABE units from CO2, foam, or water-only extinguishers.

Should I use reflective coating for an indoor office?

Reflective grades provide different visibility performance. Choose the grade required by the project specification and site conditions, and confirm any road, traffic or high-risk requirement with the relevant authority before ordering.

How many signs do I need for a large facility?

Mount one sign directly above or beside each ABE extinguisher. We'll help calculate quantities and apply bulk pricing for orders of 20+ units.

What's the difference between corflute and Colorbond for this sign?

Corflute is lightweight and economical for indoor use; Colorbond is non-combustible, weatherproof, and better for outdoor or high-heat areas like kitchens or workshops.
