Danger — Underground Cables Sign

Description

Mark underground electrical cable routes and excavation zones with a clear, compliant danger sign that alerts contractors, landscapers, and site workers to the risk of cable strike. Essential wherever ground-disturbing work—trenching, boring, digging—may occur near buried infrastructure. Choose from four materials (Colorbond, polypropylene, aluminium, vinyl) and four sizes (225×300 mm through 600×900 mm) to suit your site visibility and permanence requirements. Reflective Class 1 and Class 2 options boost visibility in low-light conditions or high-speed zones. Mounting holes and reflective finishes are available. Platinum Signs delivers Australia-wide with trade account discounts on bulk orders. Customisation and fast turnaround available.

Final sign type, wording, size, placement and material depend on the site risk, project specification and applicable jurisdiction. Confirm the requirement with the relevant WHS adviser or regulator.

Available materials

MaterialSpecification
Colorbond Steel (0.6mm)Rigid coated sheet steel suited to demanding indoor and outdoor installations. Print life depends on finish, exposure, edges and mounting. Indicative service life: Long-term substrate; print and site conditions apply. Typical use: Permanent installations, harsh environments.
Polypropylene (1.6mm)Rigid plastic sheet suited to indoor and sheltered or general outdoor applications, subject to the print finish and site exposure. Indicative service life: Medium-term use; site conditions apply. Typical use: Warehouses, factories, permanent indoor/outdoor.
Aluminium (1.6mm)Rigid aluminium sheet suited to long-term signage where corrosion resistance and dimensional stability matter. Indicative service life: Long-term substrate; print and site conditions apply. Typical use: Permanent outdoor installations and high-durability sites.
Self-Adhesive Vinyl (Sticker)Peel-and-stick vinyl for smooth surfaces. Walls, doors, machinery, and equipment labelling. Indicative service life: Short- to medium-term use; surface and exposure affect service life. Typical use: Indoor walls, equipment labels, smooth surfaces.

Frequently asked

When should I install underground cable signs?

Place signs along all cable routes where excavation or ground work may occur, at site entry points, and near utility infrastructure. Refresh or replace signs if they become faded, damaged, or obscured by vegetation.

What is the difference between Class 1 and Class 2 reflective?

Reflective grades provide different visibility performance. Choose the grade required by the project specification and site conditions, and confirm any road, traffic or high-risk requirement with the relevant authority before ordering.

Which material is best for long-term outdoor use?

Colorbond steel offers maximum durability in harsh environments and resists vandalism; aluminium is lightweight and corrosion-resistant; vinyl suits temporary installations; polypropylene balances cost and weather resistance.

Can I get a larger format for better visibility?

Yes, we stock up to 600×900 mm. Larger formats are visible from greater distances and suit major cable routes, substations, or high-visibility zones.

Do you offer reflective upgrades on existing orders?

Reflective grades provide different visibility performance. Choose the grade required by the project specification and site conditions, and confirm any road, traffic or high-risk requirement with the relevant authority before ordering.
