Description
General-purpose high voltage danger sign, AS 1319 compliant and the most widely deployed electrical safety sign in Australian workplaces. Ideal for switchrooms with mixed voltages, temporary installations, or sites where specific voltage labelling is not practical. Supplied in colorbond, polypropylene, aluminium, and vinyl across four sizes (225×300 mm to 600×900 mm). Reflective Class 1 and Class 2 finishes enhance visibility in low-light areas. Pre-drilled mounting holes are standard. Platinum Signs offers trade accounts with bulk discounts, next-day delivery to major cities, and material flexibility to match your workplace environment. Choose reflective finish based on ambient lighting and viewing distance.
Final sign type, wording, size, placement and material depend on the site risk, project specification and applicable jurisdiction. Confirm the requirement with the relevant WHS adviser or regulator.

Available materials
| Material | Specification |
|---|---|
| Colorbond Steel (0.6mm) | Rigid coated sheet steel suited to demanding indoor and outdoor installations. Print life depends on finish, exposure, edges and mounting. Indicative service life: Long-term substrate; print and site conditions apply. Typical use: Permanent installations, harsh environments. |
| Polypropylene (1.6mm) | Rigid plastic sheet suited to indoor and sheltered or general outdoor applications, subject to the print finish and site exposure. Indicative service life: Medium-term use; site conditions apply. Typical use: Warehouses, factories, permanent indoor/outdoor. |
| Aluminium (1.6mm) | Rigid aluminium sheet suited to long-term signage where corrosion resistance and dimensional stability matter. Indicative service life: Long-term substrate; print and site conditions apply. Typical use: Permanent outdoor installations and high-durability sites. |
| Self-Adhesive Vinyl (Sticker) | Peel-and-stick vinyl for smooth surfaces. Walls, doors, machinery, and equipment labelling. Indicative service life: Short- to medium-term use; surface and exposure affect service life. Typical use: Indoor walls, equipment labels, smooth surfaces. |

Frequently asked
When should I use a general High Voltage sign vs a specific voltage sign?
Use a specific voltage sign when the exact voltage is known and fixed. Use the general High Voltage sign for switchrooms with multiple voltages or temporary installations.
What is considered high voltage in Australia?
High voltage is defined as exceeding 1,000V AC or 1,500V DC under AS/NZS 3000.
Is vinyl suitable for outdoor use?
Vinyl is best suited to indoor environments and temporary installations. For permanent outdoor exposure, colorbond or aluminium with reflective coating offers superior durability.
How many signs do I need for a large switchroom?
Install signs at all entry points and adjacent to high-voltage equipment. A typical switchroom requires 3–5 signs depending on layout and access routes.
Do you offer custom voltage labels for multi-voltage sites?
Custom text and additional voltage callouts can be added to bulk orders. Discuss your specific labelling needs with our sales team.
